During the 30th Rosa Luxemburg International Conference, held in Berlin, Germany, January 11, the deputy head of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Emilia Neurys Acuña Lemes, thanked the European leftist and progressive parties for their historic solidarity in the struggle of the Cuban people against the blockade imposed by the government of the United States and the arbitrary inclusion of the country in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
In the speech, Lemes referred to the complex situation that Cuba faces because of these criminal policies and stressed that the Party, together with the government and the people, have developed and approved a strategy as a result of the analyses of the VIII Congress, the Plenary Sessions of the Central Committee and the sessions of the X Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power both economically and socially, as well as in the political-ideological sphere.
Emilia Neurys reaffirmed the importance of unity between leftist and progressive forces to counteract the advance of the extremist right, both regionally and internationally. At the same time, Lemes denounced the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, with the complicity of the United States government and its allies.
In addition, the invitation to the sixth edition of the International Conference "For the Balance of the World," to be held in Havana between January 28 and 31 was reiterated.
In this edition, the conference programme focused on the theme: "The Last Battle: How Dangerous Is Imperialism in Decline?" and featured presentations by the Secretary General of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, Kwesi Prat; former Irish MEP, Clare Daly; the secretary general of the Belgian Labour Party, Peter Mertens; among other well-known political figures.
The event was also conducive to holding exchanges with the German Communist Party (DKP), with the newspaper Junge Welt, organizers of the Conference, as well as with those working in solidarity with Cuba in Germany.
The Rosa Luxemburg International Conference is an important space for the meeting of left-wing parties, mainly European, where representatives of organizations from other regions of the world also participate. Traditionally, it is celebrated on a date close to the anniversary of the assassination of the communist leaders Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, which occurred on January 15, 1919.
