The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Luxembourg (KPL) has once again expressed its firm solidarity with the people, the government and the Communist Party of Cuba in view of recent events in the country including the national power outage and the impact of Hurricane Oscar:
The devastation caused by the hurricane had a major impact, as the power supply throughout Cuba also failed during these days and could only be restored after days, despite the great efforts of the workers and many helpers.
The difficult situation in which Cuba and its people find themselves is a consequence of the criminal policy of the United States of America, whose successive administrations have imposed a blockade for more than 60 years – regardless of whether the respective president belonged to the Republican or the Democratic Party. This policy prevents Cuba from maintaining normal economic and trade relations with other countries. The US governments are thus also defying the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which has been calling for the blockade to be lifted by a large majority for years.
The KPL calls on the government of Luxembourg to work in all international bodies, especially in the UN and the EU, for the complete lifting of the blockade of Cuba by the USA, for the removal of Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly support terrorism, and for the establishment of equal political, economic and trade relations.
