For Cuba it will always be a privilege to receive a delegation from the sister country of Vietnam, because it represents the friendship between our peoples; With these words, Marydé Fernández López, member of the Central Committee (CC) of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and deputy head of its Ideological Department, received a delegation composed of 15 members of the Association of Journalists of Vietnam (APV), led by its vice president Tran Troug Dung.

She recalled her stay in the Vietnam in 2023 as part of a high-level visit, which was chaired by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda, as a sign that bilateral relations between the two parties are important to develop systems of mutual interest.

Collaboration and cooperation have always been a common denominator between the two parties, said Fernández López, who also referred to the ties between the two countries and the work of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz to strengthen and preserve them.

Reflecting on the role of the press, the member of the Central Committee explained that the Party pays special attention to our media for what they represent for the defense of the Homeland. She also commented that "the Eighth Congress of the PCC, held in 2021, was the one that gave the press the responsibility of continuing to improve its media, starting from this moment a process of transformation so that they became multimedia."

Cuba lives in the midst of a continuous economic, commercial and financial blockade, which has been intensified with more than 243 measures and that has economically asphyxiated the country, Marydé Fernández commented, "that economic blockade also is reflected in the digital and media space, so our media play an essential and vital role in the protection of the work of the Revolution."

"There is a media war that targets Cuba, which has been ongoing since the triumph of the Revolution but has intensified in recent years, therefore, all the solidarity we receive from your country is always welcome and we are eternally grateful," she concluded.

For his part, the vice-president of the APV, Tran Troug Dung, expressed his satisfaction with the reception at the headquarters of the CC PCC and commented on the activities carried out in Cuba.

The Vietnamese delegation, which arrived in the capital last Monday and will conclude its stay on the island next Saturday, had an extensive program of tours with Cuban journalists of places of interest.

The visit is the result of the extensive exchange between the journalists' guilds of Cuba and Vietnam, as well as bilateral relations between their parties, governments and peoples.

Also present at the meeting on the Cuban side were Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, President of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC); Bolivia Tamara Cruz Martínez, member of the Central Committee of the Party and vice president of the UPEC and the officials of the Central Committee of the Party Iliana Hernández Portales and Liuba Moreno Álvarez.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Cuba, H.E. Mr. Le Quang Long.
