Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic and Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, both sent New Year messages out to the people of Cuba on the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.
Díaz-Canel took to X to say "Dear compatriots: Infinite thanks for the heroism in the face of the barbarity of the economic war that is being waged against us. Let us remember the year that is ending, not because of the obstacles and the shortcomings. Let us remember it because we all overcame them together."
In a video message he celebrated the Cuban people saying:
In today's Cuba, no one needs to walk far if they want to find our heroines: There are millions! They make up the body and soul of a Revolution that resists and remakes itself incessantly. They are of all colors and of all ages. They don't think about medals or tributes, because they are determined to make a life day to day...
There are our heroes and martyrs, those who, as José Martí said, are sacred because they served the Homeland."
"With a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for the courage and resilience we have shown in this challenging year, I congratulate you," Roberto Morales Ojeda said in his message.
Saying that the Cuban people have been instrumental in the fight against the cruel US economic blockade, he continued: "Their daily effort, commitment to the homeland and ability to find solutions in the midst of difficulties and shortages are irrefutable proof of the indomitable spirit that characterizes every Cuban".
He ended with the stirring words: "The future is ours, and with the same determination that has guided us this far, we will face every challenge. Let's continue to build a country where justice, equality and love for our land prevail. Together, we are invincible."
