Marx & Engels, illustration, Nikolai Zhukov (1908-1973), USSR
One of Zhukov's many famous sketches. Zhukov, who was a People’s Artist of the RSFSR and People’s Artist of the USSR worked in many mediums as an artist but was most renowned for his portrait sketches.
He was chosen by the USSR to be one of their official sketch artists at the Nuremberg trials of the Nazi war criminals.
While he sketched many portraits his most well known are of Lenin.
He is also notable for having designed the famed pin of the young Lenin that was used by the Soviet Pioneers.
