Isaac Bainbridge and Canadian Forward, 1918 -- Daily LIFT #282
Update on the left political situation in Canada in the September, 1918 issue of the American magazine The Liberator.
Isaac Bainbridge, who they refer to here, was arrested several times for sedition during World War One. In addition to being editor of the newspaper Canadian Forward he was was a leader of the Social Democratic Party of Canada to which the paper was attached.
In 1918 Bainbridge was imprisoned and the newspaper banned as part of a campaign against the party and its leaders. Eventually the party merged with some other early Canadian socialist and labour parties that were precursors to the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation.
