Remarkable photo by L. Leonidov from November, 1918. Sverdlov, one of the most prominent Bolshevik leaders, died only 5 months after this during a wave of the Spanish flu pandemic at the age of only 33. After his death he was described by Lenin as "the most perfectly complete type of professional revolutionary."
