The Barrow of Glory, USSR 1969 -- Daily LIFT #409
Located 21 kilometers outside of Minsk on the Moscow Highway, the Barrow of Glory was built as a monument to honour those who fought in World War II -- the Great Patriotic War as the Soviets termed it -- against the Nazi invasion.
The monument's four spires -- bayonets -- that reach to the sky represent each of the four years of the terrible conflict.
