The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is denouncing the attacks on Yemen launched by the US and the Trump administration. The large-scale U.S. strikes targeted the Houthis due to their attacks on Red Sea shipping in solidarity with Gaza. The initial strikes killed at least 53 people including women and children.
Ma Tong Hui, ambassador of the DPRK to Egypt and to Yemen said on Tuesday (March 18) that recently "the U.S. launched a large-scale military attack on Yemen under the pretext of protecting international trade from so-called terrorism."
He noted that this led to the deaths of people "including children and women" who were killed or wounded along with the destruction of infrastructure and buildings "due to the indiscriminate military attack committed by vast forces of the U.S. Air Force and Navy, including a nuclear aircraft carrier."
He continued "This military attack by the U.S. is a wanton violation of all international laws including the UN Charter".
"I express serious concern over and strongly condemn and reject the illegal military moves of the U.S. which is resorting to its exclusive and unilateral geopolitical ambition while gravely violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries through the violence of injustice in disregard of international law."
He ended: "The international community will have to express serious concern and protest against the U.S. hooliganism seriously disturbing regional peace and stability, and the U.S. should stop at once such indiscriminate use of force that will invite its own international isolation."
