Karl Marx's Grave Memorial Unveiled, Highgate Cemetery, London, 1956
The now famous and iconic memorial at the grave of Karl Marx in Highgate Cemetery was unveiled on March 15, 1956, the day after the anniversary of his death on March 14, 1883.
The monument was designed by Laurence Bradshaw and was funded by the Communist Party of Great Britain. The party's General Secretary, Harry Pollitt, led the ceremony.
