Lenin and Lunacharsky pass an honour guard, May 1, 1920 Moscow -- Photos of Revolutionary Russia #25

Lenin and Bolshevik revolutionary and writer Anatoly Lunacharsky pass an honour guard in Moscow on May Day 1920. They were on their way to a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the Liberated Labour monument on Prechistenskaya Embankment.

Lunacharsky died in France in 1933 on his way to become ambassador to Spain. There is an asteroid named in his honour.

This is the halfway point in this series of photos from the Russian Revolution and early USSR published as a collection in the Soviet Union in 1980.
