The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that thousands of workers from Attica and the Peloponnese, responding to the call of the trade unions and the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE), demonstrated on Saturday September, 28 in solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon who are being slaughtered by Israel and demanded that their country’s involvement in the imperialist wars be stopped, including the use of the port of Agioi Theodoroi and the entire region to supply NATO and Israeli forces.

It is no coincidence that the anti-imperialist demonstration took place in the area where the Motor Oil refinery is located and, as the trade unions have pointed out, one of the profitable activities of this business group is the refueling of tankers supporting the NATO and Israeli war operations to continue the massacre in Gaza and now in Lebanon, at a time when the situation in the Middle East is dangerously escalating.

On the occasion of two recent industrial accidents at the Motor Oil refinery with injured workers, the demonstrators demanded substantial health and safety measures in the workplaces based on the current possibilities of technology and science.

“Another crime took place a few days ago at the Motor Oil plant in Agioi Theodoroi, where explosions and fire seriously injured 4 workers and several others were sent to the Health Centres of the region for first aid, showing how close a generalized industrial accident is. At a time when safety measures for workers and local residents are considered a cost, the group’s profitability is increasing through the supply of tankers supporting NATO and Israeli war operations”, noted the statement from the All Workers’ Militant Front (PAME).

The rally was attended by a large delegation of the CC of the KKE, while one of the main slogans of the demonstrators was “Profits dipped in the blood of the workers and the peoples!”.
