Communist Party of Turkey on the 76th anniversary of NATO

NATO was established at a time when humanity was rising up against the system of exploitation, when peoples were advancing towards days of equality and freedom in many countries of the world.
The purpose of its establishment was very explicit. The Soviet Union and socialism had to be defeated, and the people rising up all over the world had to be suppressed by blood and force.
Today, 76 years after its establishment, NATO has left behind a trail of war crimes, coups and massacres, continuing to carry out new ones.
Those who involved our country in NATO — the world's bloodiest and largest terrorist organization — by bargaining away the blood of working-class children, and all the governments that have sworn allegiance to NATO since that day, as well as the parties that are candidates for power to maintain this system, are enemies of our country's independence.
Today, all the bourgeois parties, both ruling and opposition, will repeat the fairytale that Turkey is one of NATO's most significant actors, and will continue their rhetoric of loyalty to NATO.
Nothing is surprising in this situation at all...
On the other hand, uncompromisingly pro-NATO government representatives will try to accuse the people joining the demonstrations across the country against injustice and poverty of falling for the "conspiracy of foreign powers."
Yes, foreign powers want to intervene in Turkey.
Yes, they continue to attack our country every day to continue its being a part of this exploitative system.
And yes, NATO, the apparatus of imperialism, is undoubtedly at the forefront of this intervention.
We clearly declare that:
For the sake of our country's independence, we must immediately withdraw from NATO, and there must not be a single NATO unit or base left in Turkey.
Anyone who on one hand continues uninterruptedly to swear allegiance to NATO, and on the other targets the protests of our people with the fabrication of "foreign powers" is an impostor.
Those who attempt to label our people's resistance as "the conspiracy of foreign powers" should look in the mirror and first account for their own collaboration.
