A coalition of Swiss leftist parties and organizations is calling on people to take to the streets on March 15 to oppose Swiss involvement with NATO and to demand peace.
Meeting point: Town of Bellinzona (Switzerland), "Largo Elvezia" square, 15 March 2025, 14:30 hours
NATO is not a defensive alliance: let's stay out of it!:
NATO is an aggressive military alliance in the service of Atlantic unipolarity, which has repeatedly caused wars, ‘colour revolutions’ and coups. With its continuous expansion, particularly around the Eurasian area, it is truly responsible for the current escalation of international tensions and the risk of a third world war. Through a treacherous ‘salami tactic’, the Swiss Government is leading us towards (direct or indirect) membership of NATO and the dismantling of our neutrality. Not only do the technological constraints of the Swiss army's weapon systems make us dependent on NATO, not only does the ‘Sky Shield’ turn us into a target for all enemies of the USA, but even army commander Thomas Süssli would like to send our conscripts abroad.
Let us mobilise for peace and Swiss neutrality!:
While there is talk in Europe of calling up the reservists, of preparing the people for a military conflict against Russia (and tomorrow against China?) and fomenting a furious arms race to continue a bloody war, we, the undersigned, who are in favour of a multipolar world governed by peaceful cooperation between sovereign nations and friendship between peoples, are convinced that only a neutral, non-aligned Switzerland with a truly independent foreign policy can make a contribution to peace and diplomacy.
We therefore take to the streets to demand that Switzerland:
reaffirms its neutrality and its willingness to resolve international disputes peacefully: this also means not joining unilateral military alliances, not participating in armed confrontations between third states, not taking sanctions and non-military coercive measures against belligerent states, and not discriminating against young people engaged in civilian service.
cease all military, political and academic cooperation with NATO and its institutes. In particular, renounce membership of the ‘Sky Shield’ and participation in the ‘Permanent Structured Cooperation’ (PESCO);
strictly reaffirm the defensive character of the armed forces and repatriate soldiers currently abroad on NATO missions (as is the case with KFOR) and also revise the recent federal ordinance on international military cooperation, which makes it easier for NATO troops to transit our territory
refrain from relaxing the rules preventing the re-export of war material, especially to countries engaged in wars, and prohibit the financing of the arms industry (starting with the Swiss National Bank and pension funds).
