Today we solemnly remember the fateful day of April 6, 1941—a day when the skies over Yugoslavia darkened under the shadow of fascist aggression. On that day, our nation was brutally bombed, an act that marked not only the beginning of the Second World War on our soil but also the onset of a long and painful struggle against oppression.
The indiscriminate bombing claimed the lives of countless innocent civilians, leaving behind scars that remain etched in our collective memory. Each fallen citizen was a symbol of the brutal cost of fascist ambitions—a cost that our people, the working class and peasant masses, would bear with unmatched fortitude.
In the face of occupation and relentless brutality, the spirit of resistance ignited across the land. Ordinary citizens transformed into heroes, united by the unyielding conviction that justice and freedom were worth the ultimate sacrifice. Their courageous defiance paved the way for a relentless struggle, a fight that would eventually crush the forces of fascism and restore dignity to our homeland.
As we honor this historic sacrifice, we renew our commitment to the principles of solidarity, equality, and peace. The legacy of those who resisted tyranny continues to inspire us to build a society free from oppression, where the unity of our people guarantees a future built on justice and progress.
Let us remember their sacrifice and remain ever vigilant, for the fight against all forms of injustice is a duty that binds us across generations.
