Sao Paulo Forum condemns Cuba blockade, denounces NATO imperialism and warmongering

By the International Relations Department of the Communist Party of Cuba, translated from the Spanish

The Final Declaration of the XXVII Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, held from June 27 to 29 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, demanded the exclusion of Cuba from the spurious list of states allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

The paragraph on Cuba also includes a strong condemnation of the genocidal economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States government, which has intensified in an unprecedented manner over the last five years.

The text also demands the return of the territory illegally occupied since 1903 at the Guantanamo naval base and condemns the media and subversion campaigns against Cuba, financed from abroad, that distort the reality faced by the Cuban people.

The Forum adopted a resolution of solidarity with Cuba, which highlights the constant attempts of the government of the United States to undermine the Revolution by deploying two fundamental strategies, economic asphyxiation and media intoxication.

As is tradition in the Forum Meetings, specific resolutions were also approved on issues of interest to the leftist and progressive forces of the region. The Communist Party of Cuba proposed two of them.

The first entitled "Resolution in support of the Communist Party of China in its just struggle for national reunification", expresses firm support for the principle of "One China" and recognizes Taiwan as an inalienable part of the territory of the People's Republic of China.

The second entitled "Resolution against imperialism and its warmongering NATO allies", rejects the expansion of the transatlantic alliance to Russia's borders, and notes this as the main cause of the conflict in Europe. At the same time, the text denounces the imperial pretensions disrespecting the sovereignty of states, encouraging regime changes and intervening in the internal affairs of nations that do not bow to their interests and domination and that defend their territorial integrity and independence.

A total of 105 delegates and 36 guests participated in this XXVII Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, which coincided with the II Summit of the CELAC Social and took place in the context of events marking the 15th anniversary of the coup d'état against President José Manuel Zelaya, demonstrating the commitment of the regional left to the pressing challenges we face.
