Statement of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia.

A delegation of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) joined a global solidarity action against the Cuban blockade on March 30, 2025, at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Serbia. At the invitation of the Cuban Ambassador to Serbia, Dr. Lejdea Ernesto Hernandez Rodriguez, NKPJ Executive Secretary Comrade Aleksandar Đenić addressed those present. He expressed the strong solidarity of our party and the Serbian people with the Cuban people, who continue to resist the criminal sanctions imposed by the United States.

The World Day Against the Blockade was also observed in Serbia as part of a global initiative. Within the framework of Caravan Day, this initiative was carried out in more than 50 countries around the world, primarily in Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

On this day, March 30, a solidarity action was organized in Belgrade with the aim of raising our voices against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of Cuba. Participants called for an immediate end to this criminal siege imposed by the American administration.

Solidarity with the Cuban people is more important than ever now that the Trump administration has decided to introduce a new package of sanctions against Cuba, including:

  • Reinstating Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, from which it was previously removed by Biden.

  • Activating a ban on cooperation with "restricted entities," which covers a significant part of the Cuban business sector.

  • Re-activating the enforcement of Head III of the Helms-Burton Act.

  • Suspending remittances via the financial company Orbit.S.A. (Western Union).

  • Suspending the process of conditional release and family reunification for those admitted to the United States.

  • Suspending major categories of visas that affect exchange institutions.

  • Restricting visas for Cubans and foreign officials associated with Cuba’s international medical cooperation programs.

  • Placing Cuba on the list of “foreign adversaries,” alongside Venezuela, Iran, Russia, and China, further restricting Cuba’s access to American technology.

  • Proclaiming Cuba as a country “enemy to humanity.”

Despite all these challenges, NKPJ is convinced that Cuba will endure and prevail! The NKPJ expresses deep solidarity and full support for the Cuban people in their struggle against a genocidal blockade that has lasted for more than 60 years and affects all Cubans, regardless of their location, given its extraterritorial nature, which is consciously or unconsciously applied in many parts of the world.
