In an incredible display of solidarity with Palestine organizers estimate between 800,000 and 1 million people took to the streets of London, UK on Saturday, November 11. Called the National March for Palestine they were rallying to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and freedom for Palestinians.
The chant "In our thousands, in our millions, we are all Palestinians," could be heard all through the march.
Even more remarkably this happened despite overt attempts by the British government to intimidate organizers and stop the march, most especially the outrageous bullying and inflammatory rhetoric of British Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
As the Stop the War Coalition put it on X: "They tried to stop us … they failed … spectacularly".
"This footage shows the true will of the British people," wrote Ahmed Alnaouq, a London-based Palestinian journalist and co-founder of the nonprofit We Are Not Numbers. "Hundreds of thousands are protesting peacefully despite rounds of vicious smear campaigns and intimidation. "All say in one word: CEASE-FIRE NOW!" as reported in Common Dreams.
