Forward, Cubans, this is the Revolution of the people and their millions of workers. From the "José Martí" Anti-Imperialist Tribune, flags and posters were raised today to celebrate this May Day.
Cuba and its workers celebrated their holiday with Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the General Secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento.
Other members of the Political Bureau, the government, the Union of Young Communists, the Revolutionary Armed Forces and other sectors were also present.
Around 200,000 Cubans gathered in this historic Tribune of a Thousand Battles, along with the warm embrace and support of 1,100 friends from 58 countries and 220 organizations that also made this celebration their own.
"At this time, millions of Cubans throughout the country are also firm and united around the socialist revolution, defending their ideals of sovereignty, independence and social justice," said Guilarte de Nacimiento, who delivered the keynote speech.
La Tribuna was also used as a space to denounce the blockade that wreaks havoc on the lives of our people and their economic development, "having a negative impact" - said Guilarte de Nacimiento - "on consumption levels, on the loss of purchasing power of salaries and pensions. It also makes it impossible to obtain inputs and raw materials for industries and puts pressure on companies from all over the world interested in trade with Cuba," among other issues.
"There is not a single sector of the country free of these effects," he said.
In the face of these challenging circumstances, the festival of the proletariat was dedicated to the heroism of the Cuban people, who today have as their main mission the economic battle.
In this sense, the Secretary General of the CTC highlighted the work of labor groups that have been able to overcome obstacles by working with responsibility, rigor, and a sense of belonging, developing their capacities for innovation and creativity to the maximum.
He added that this celebration coincides with the greatest crime perpetrated by the State of Israel against Palestine and its people, attacks that have claimed the lives mainy of women and children.
He proclaimed unity as a strategic weapon of the Revolution, "that is why united we will win and move forward," he said.
For her part, the young Dariana Oramas Campos of the Basic Electric Company of Havana, when referring to the blockade, explained how for her work environment this iron measure influences the purchase of fuel and obtaining spare parts, negotiations that require payment in cash and, sometimes, in advance in distant markets of our island.
She pointed out that this does not stop the work of workers in this branch because they are "men and women of dedication, commitment and consecration."
In the same way, she affirmed to the historic leadership of the Revolution that they can have the conviction that continuity with the youth is guaranteed.
"Know that young people can be trusted," Oramas Campos concluded.

Our José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune, symbol of the Battle of Ideas led by Fidel, was filled with people on International Workers' Day. There we were accompanying Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
It was a beautiful sunrise there in a Havana overflowing with colors, joys and certainties shared on a day that is one of celebration and commitment. And it was also an opportunity to proclaim to the world that we continue to build our future and that united we defend causes like that of Palestine.
We are proud to be part of a people that, both in the capital and throughout the country, massed in squares and avenues as a reflection of our unity, that which Raúl has told us that we must always take care of like the apple of our eye, like life itself.
