The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, today denounced the U.S. blockade, and demanded the removal of the island from the State Department's list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

Accompanied by Army General Raul Castro and thousands of Havanans who had gathered to march in front of the U.S. embassy, representing the people of Cuba, Díaz-Canel demanded respect for the island's right to peacefully build its future.

He condemned the fact that the current Biden administration, now just 30 days before the end of his term, did not reverse the policy of his predecessor, Donald Trump, who will assume the presidency again next month.

With the application of the 243 additional measures and the maintenance of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, Biden complied completely and cruelly with the policy that Trump approved during his term, he noted.

He stressed that pointing to Cuba as a state that supposedly sponsors terrorism is false and immoral, no matter who is making the accusation, but this is doubly so when being made by the US.

In the US, he pointed out, paramilitary groups are currently training that organize, promote and finance terrorist actions against social and economic structures in Cuba.

Cuba's continued presence on that list and the intensification of the blockade policy are actions deployed against the Cuban people and must cease now, he said.

Diaz-Canel made clear that this march is not against the US people, against whom Cuba does not have the slightest feeling of hatred or animosity, but against the determination of the government of that powerful country to destroy the island's sovereignty, independence and socialism, in the face of which, he said, it will always find rebellion and intransigence.

He also recalled that his country has extended its hand to all the governments of the United States since the triumph of the Revolution right up until today, calling for a serious, respectful relationship and on equal terms.

Against the plans of US imperialism, we will march now and always, the Cuban president said.
