UN votes overwhelmingly -- again -- against the US blockade of Cuba

For the 32nd time the United Nations General Assembly today (October 30) voted overwhelmingly to call for an end to the US economic blockade against Cuba. The vote was not even close, with 187 countries voting in favour of the resolution on the "Necessity of Ending Embargo Imposed by United States of America against Cuba" with only Israel and the United States voting against (Moldova abstained).

Even staunch imperialist allies of the US like Canada, the UK, Germany, etc. voted for the embargo's end.

Representatives of country after country addressed the assembly to denounce the embargo with the Russian representative saying "the blockade is also an example of neocolonialism. It is clear that these measures have been designed to intimidate other states and perpetuate the neocolonial model of the United States."
