Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un exchange greetings for 75th anniversary of China-DPRK diplomatic relations




Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un exchanged greetings on October 6 to honour the 75th anniversary of the commencement of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). This came in 1949 mere days after the formation of the PRC.


In his message Xi Jinping "also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, pointed out that 75 years ago, China and the DPRK officially established diplomatic relations, opening a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations, which is of epoch-making significance."


Xi stated: "For 75 years, the two countries have advanced hand in hand on the road of promoting socialist construction while supporting and strengthening exchange and cooperation with each other in the struggle to consolidate the people's power and defend the national sovereignty, and have closely cooperated in the work to promote the regional peace and stability and safeguard the international equity and justice."


For his part Kim Jong Un said: "On behalf of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Korean people, I extend warm greetings to you, Comrade General Secretary and, through you, to the Communist Party of China, the government of the People’s Republic of China and all the Chinese people on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the PRC...


Over the past 75 years, the two parties and the two countries have vigorously advanced along the road of socialism, standing all sorts of trials and challenges of history with the firm faith in the validity of their cause."
